Slayer Logo Confused With Hate Crime Graffiti

According to Amanda Lindner of, a spraypainted Slayer logo at a park in Long Island, New York was was confused with a hate crime symbol Tuesday night (August 13).

One of the buildings at Wicks Park in Commack was marked with black graffiti consisting of the word "Slayer" and a pentagram.
After a resident called in the incident, police were initially investigating the vandalism as a hate crime but quickly realized they were on the wrong track.

I'm not sure I agree it's a hate crime, but I would classify the band continuing without Jeff as crime, for sure.
