70,000 tons of metal not metal enough for you?
Get ready to board the Barge to Hell.
Taking off this fall from Miami, Florida to Nassau, Bahamas and back.

Still 40 bands, still only 2000 tickets, again - 4 days, one cruise ship - but this time with a focus on more extreme metal side: mainly death metal, thrash metal, speed metal, black metal, doom metal, and maybe some industrial metal. No details as to what bands will be appearing, but the True Metalhead is beginning to sell off some of his belongings to get a ticket. How about you?

Steel Panther too much for Brits

Turns out that Steel Panther and their over-the-top artwork and general behaviour have been deemed as "gone-too-far" in the U.K.

It is inconclusive if flashing the Shocker, the portrayal of steel balls or a the partially scratched "dollar sixty-nine" sticker pushed the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) to make that decision, but if you live in England you will likely not see any posters or the artwork for "Balls Out".

The band's label, Universal Island Records, countered that it was meant to be so over the top that no one would take it seriously and so it didn't actually undermine women, adding that it was mostly put up in places like clubs and bars where adults went for nights out and they weren't aware of them being close to any schools.

An alternate english version of the album looks like this:

Episode 3 - Beyond Obituary Notices

Moods change and tempers flare and despite attacks from various sources, Metal Detector vows to stay on until the cops break the door down.

Donald Tardy from Florida death metal pioneers Obituary runs an animal rescue shelter called Metal Meowlisha and pays a visit to the show while bringing awareness to growing problems abandoned cats are faced with. Donald and his wife have been helping these animals in the streets of Tampa for seven years. Metal Detector also mentions SOPA and the dangers this organizations carries while posing as a solution to ending online piracy. Enjoy the ever so angry and relentless Metal Detector show as you sample music from Demonic Ressurection, Mastadon, Obituary, Decapitated, Loincloth and Death Creator and hear another On the Record segment. Subscribe, rate and if you hate the show, go for the jugular.

Huge thanks to Dino Cazarez and FEAR FACTORY (I use the intro to Zero Signal from Demanufacture as a big fan of the band) - also massive thanks go to Mandy Delamuerte for her spoken parts to Metal Detector. Last song on the show is from Omar's Death Creator, Mandy's husband's band. He is also an active member of Xoltol and Yaotl.

Ellefson learning to become a Pastor

Dave Ellefson is an online student in the Specific Ministry Program at Concordia Seminary operated by the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.

More than 100 students are enrolled in the distance learning program, director David Wollenburg said. The program is open only to those who have been sponsored by someone already working in the ministry.

"I came from a good family, not a broken home," said Ellefson, 47. "That became a model for me, and I saw church at center of it."

Future Pastor Ellefson can not only bake you some mean cookies and play some wicked bass, but can now turn a nice twist on the once blasphemous Megadeth and rock out for God at the church near you.

Poor and Resourceful

Lars should offer this kid 0.001% profits from his upcoming Metallica 3D movie in exchange for some drum lessons. This poor boy could use a real kit Lars.

Her First Hardcore Song

This kid is metalcore to the core. Somebody needs to show her the "monster voice" button on the mixer.

Who better to review a drama like "War Horse" than Oderus Urungus and Balsac The Jaws of Death?
Grab some pop corn and enjoy.

Uncle Ted's gotta bullet with… his name on it

According to Music-News.com, ammunitions company Pierce Munitions will start producing the Nugent-branded ammo in the next few months.

You can now help Uncle Ted crusade with his own branded bullets.

The hunting ammunition will come in a variety of calibers and can be used in hand-guns, a 44 magnum and various rifles.

'My life, family and friends are one big shooting, hunting, outdoor family. I am excited and proud to now help create state-of-the-art ammo for dedicated sporters everywhere,' Ted said in a statement on Blabbermouth.net.

So, don't walk, run to your local gun shop and order yourself a box of Ted's own bullets, c'mon, you can't shoot a deer with a Walmart-branded bullet, can you?

A Different Kind of Rip-off?

The loser hip hop crowd puts a Cadillac Escalade on a typical cover of their albums.
Heavy weights like Van Halen put heavier machinery on their own covers.
However, with a title like "A Different Kind of Truth" you'd think Van Halen would pay somebody a few bucks to draw up a train not used in the past, huh?

The most Metal car - EVER!!!

OK, so you don't associate a Buick with anything more than the last car an old man ever buys (now that Oldsmobile is defunct) but you gotta admit that this drenched in chrome Buick Regal is by far the most metal car ever made. I think it needs horns on the hood.

File Sharing is Officially a Religion

In Sweden, file sharing has officially been recognized as a religion by the Swedish government agency Kammarkollegiet. The Church of Kopimism applied for religious status three times over the course of more than a year before finally succeeding just before Christmas.
The church, which holds CTRL+C and CTRL+V (keyboard shortcuts for copy and paste) as sacred symbols, was denied religious status twice before when authorities requested they formalize the way they pray or meditate. Followers of the church, known as Kopimists, now organize religious file-sharing ceremonies called “kopyactings” where members share information with each other.
BTW, their website would pretty much give any 1995 website an award for stunning design.

I now officially declare Syccology as a religion and naturally my Psycho Dungeon is thy church. Come to the mass this Saturday. BYOB.

Metal Meowlisha needs your help

Metal Detector posts are usually about dumb shit.
I've got something more serious and worthy of sharing.

Donald Tardy (Obituary drummer) and his wife Heather aid 130 feral cats a day. They established the "Metal Meowlisha" and have released a following mission statement:

"Donald and Heather are committed to caring for feral cats in more than 20 spots or ‘colonies’ each day, 365 days a year. This also involves continually practicing Trap-Neuter-Return and using spay/neuter to control the population of free roaming cats in our area. The ASPCA endorses Trap-Neuter-Return as the ONLY Humane and Effective manner of managing free roaming cat populations, and so do we! In caring for so many cats on the streets, we find many abandoned cats, especially in the current economy and college area that we are working in. Often they are in need of health care, some need extensive treatment. The MM works with our vet and local clinics to the sick and injured cats we find, and networks with the wonderful rescues and shelter in our city to help find homes for friendly, adoptable cats and kittens. We strive to provide medical care as needed to sick or injured feral cats so they can be returned to their outdoor homes to live happily and comfortably. The MM embraces a no-kill ideology and strives to treat sick and injured cats without euthanizing cats based on financial considerations or testing positive for infectious diseases. We also believe that any cat or kitten whose life will be impacted by the results of a "positive" test deserves to be retested as these results are not always correct the first time, and sometimes with a time a cat will clear the antibodies or virus. They don't euthanize MLB players for testing positive! We believe all cats deserve a second chance as much as it is possible, keeping the cats quality of life & prognosis of course in primary consideration."

You can contact them by visiting their website or sending them an email.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Bret Michaels is missing some fingers

In addition to brains, balls and hair, Bret Michaels has recently revealed that he is also missing some fingers. When asked what was the highest grade he completed, he prompted to show the number revealing the lack of fingers as seen in the attached photo. It is not clear what caused the accident that took his fingers off, some suggest flesh eating disease as a result of drinking poison, others steer towards an unknown cause you can be sure Bret is working on disclosing to gain some sympathy of the ladies and the media.
